Week 3: Lights, Camera, Action!

What kind of music video do you like?

I like music videos that are not too flashy, which suits acoustic and emotional music.

Today, I got to be a music director and shoot a music video. I started a music video project

with a team of 5 people, and I was in charge of Camera II. I was excited to get my hands on an expensive camera for the first time.

We learnt about the different roles of shooting a music video. We had a camera director, a lighting person, two musicians and an assistant camera, and when all the roles were ready for the video, we took turns shouting, "LET'S ROLLING!". I always got excited to say this. Then after enough communication that everyone was ready, we started shooting the video!

We tried a few different angles of the musicians and settled on the best one. And this is our final angle! What do you think?

After we pressed the red recording button we stayed extremely quiet and were hoping the musicians would do a good job singing the song, and guess what? We got a good result in 4 takes which is quite incredible! Now we're going to edit this footage in week 5 and hopefully, it will turn into a decent music video, I'm so excited!

I wonder how my Year 7-8 will do this project because they are one of the most creative year groups, and whenever we do a project like making an advertisement, they always surprise me with creativity. I am definitely going to teach how to use different cameras and lights for this project in the future!
