Our focus for this week's seminar was on crafting drumming patterns and synthesizer sounds using Soundtrap. Initially, we delved into experimenting with various synthesizer tones. Traditionally, I thought synths and keyboards were closely aligned in their purpose. However, I discovered that synthesizers can generate unique special effects sounds, expanding their role beyond simply playing harmonic chords in a random sound snippet.

During the lecture, we took a hands-on approach to enhance our synthesizer creations by incorporating audio effects. This process involved navigating numerous settings, requiring me to comprehend concepts like equalizers and compressors, which may have been briefly touched upon during our podcast-making week. The exploration was both educational and enjoyable.
What stood out was the opportunity to utilise the synthesizers in the tech lab instead of relying on my laptop's keys to generate synth tracks. The experience ignited my interest in further exploration, envisioning its integration into future lessons. I believe incorporating
synthesizer technology into music education can provide a creative and engaging avenue for students to delve into the realm of music technology, steering away from the conventional approach of having them experiment with GarageBand during class.
Watch how I explore the synth for the first time!
